(Examples of possible sources of hope for progress: the recognition of the weakness of the human mind or the senses; or of the fallibility of human character; or, conversely, of the strength of the human mind; or of the utility of certain human passions previously judged harmful or sinful; or the discovery or invention of a special method, in science and politics; or a new institutional arrangement; or the reliance on a newly recognized historical forces or processes, etc. Again, these are just examples: it is up to you to characterize the nature of the Enlightenment hope for progress and to identify the root(s) of those hopes.).
