Central Themes Of William Wilberforce

Description: This short, descriptive essay will allow students an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of some of the central themes of William Wilberforce’s Real Christianity. Papers will answer the following questions: By the end of Week 2 you will have read Wilberforce’s Real Christianity. Throughout this book, Wilberforce talks about the danger of reducing the Christian faith to a simple code of morality or ethics. Which Christian doctrines does Wilberforce think particularly essential to a healthy political culture? Why are they essential? What danger does neglecting these doctrines pose to a nation’s political life? Guidelines: This paper will NOT require outside research or bibliographies beyond the complete course syllabus (although outside research, if properly cited and attributed is certainly welcome). Early submission of papers is encouraged. Late papers will be penalized by a reduction of 10% of the final grade per calendar day late. Write succinctly, directly, and clearly. You are graduate students: there is no excuse for the unprofessionalism of typos, misspellings, grammar errors, and the like at the graduate level. Proofread your paper before submitting. Finally, an excellent structure for short essays is the intro/body/conclusion model that you learned in high school. Regent University’s Writing Center works with online students, can proof-read your paper for you, and offer guidance. Length: Papers should be at least 2 full pages of text in length. Papers 1-2 pages longer (if the length is necessary to the argument) will not be penalized. Formatting: All papers must use APA style formatting (including citations), size 12 Times New Roman font, feature double-spaced lines, with 1-inch margins on each side. Cover pages and bibliographies are not required although they may be used without penalty. Each failure to follow APA guidelines will be penalized. Students should obtain a copy of Lisa Baglione’s Writing a Research Paper in Political Science,3rd ed.
