Construction Types and Collapse.
Construction Types and Collapse
Determine the methods used by firefighters to accurately predict structural collapse during firefighting operations. Evaluate the impact the type of fire will have on light-weight truss and engineered components. Describe features of fire protection and/or systems that could be used to extend the collapse time for light-weight truss and engineered components. Part 2: Go to the Fire Near-Miss reporting system (Links to an external site.) database and search the category: Structure Fire, then click the Tag: Building construction. Research any collapse, near-miss report that was due to a lack of building construction knowledge as related to fire behavior and answer the following: Provide a summary of the event. Evaluate the ability of the crew to accurately predict the impact the fire had on structural components leading to the collapse. Analyze the effect that a NFPA 13 (D, R, or Full) may have had on reducing the impact of heat on structural components.
