Determine two characteristics or components of the mission statement that you believe are most aligned with the organization’s directional strategy. Justify your response.
The healthcare organization considered is the Tenet Healthcare(THC). THC is a multinational for-profit healthcare services company. Through its brands, subsidiaries, joint ventures, and partnerships, as of October 2016 Tenet operates nine facilities in the United Kingdom and around 68 hospitals, 21 USPI hospitals and 470 outpatient centers in 16 American states.
Tenet Healthcare strategy is geared towards delivering value based healthcare and improving its innovation capabilities. The mission of the company is to improve the quality of every patient who enters its door. THC Mission Statement is: “Tenet’s name and logo reflect its core business philosophy – the importance of shared values between partners in providing a full spectrum of quality, cost-efficient health care.”
The segment of providing a full spectrum of quality healthcare and providing cost efficient healthcare are most aligned with the organization’s directional strategy. This is because they affect directly the company’s strategy. Value based healthcare is based on provision of quality and cost efficient healthcare. Equally if the company improves its innovation capabilities the quality and cost efficiency of healthcare would also be improved.
Suggest two ways in which the organization can demonstrate its values or philosophy through delivery of its services.
THC activities are guided by values of: Quality, Integrity, Service, Innovation and Transparency. It is on the basis of these values that other stakeholders choose and seek to establish relationship with it.
To demonstrate its values in its activities, THC should embrace modern technology and equipment to ensure efficiency in service delivery for quality services. It should also take the needs of its patients and stakeholders seriously for effective and efficient service delivery. It should also ensure honesty and transparency in its activities.

Recommend one strategic goal for the selected organization that aligns with its mission statement, and one critical success factor necessary for the organization to achieve the goal you recommended.
Ensuring value based service delivery aligns the company with its mission statement of ensuring quality healthcare to every patient who visits it. Value based service delivery would ensure that the company cares more of the patients in need band strive to ensure quality service delivery. To achieve this goal, it is critical that the company ensures exceptional quality service delivery. This could be achieved through the employment of best physicians and staff and providing them with modern technologies and equipment in delivery of services. The company should also ensure infrastructural developments to ensure conducive environment for service delivery.
Propose three ways in which a healthcare organization’s Board of Directors can influence policy. Provide specific examples to support your rationale.
Board of Directors can influence policy by determining organizational policy, determining and providing resources for implantation of policy and supporting the CEO in ensuring the established policies are implemented. On determining organizations policy, the board of directors provide the vision, mission and goals of the organization.it also establishes the leadership policy of the organization. The board of directors also influence the effectiveness of the implementation process of policy. This is because they determine which policy to be provided resources with for implementation.
