Devotional Media Cards.
This assignment consists of designing three (3) “devotional” media cards, as explained in class (Nov 21, Week 10). Please upload the cards as one .pdf file by Tuesday DEC 18, 2018 Instructions: Pick your triad of pioneers/scholars by signing in the corresponding group (See “Groups” section) Do some research using the course readings as well as consulting online sources Write out an original 150-180-word blurb per each pioneer/scholar List the sources you have consulted Pick a photopic per each pioneer/scholar Upload the three cards as one PDF file on Qercus Tips and tricks: Think carefully before picking your triad of pioneers/scholars – You won’t be able to change it later (there is limited room for each group). Writing the blurb is a creative writing exercise. This is not an encyclopedic entry. It is a blurb that aims, in a nutshell, to provide the reader with the most relevant information about the ideas and concepts pioneered by the pioneer/scholar. Avoid redundant biographical information. Just provide relevant context such as where he/she was born or where he/she worked (intellectual context, not just the geographical). If any, refer to the School of thoughts he/she belongs to. Include biographical information only if it is relevant to understand his/her work or ideas. Address the main points: why this scholar is important in the field of media studies; we should be devoted to him/her; what are his/her most relevant ideas or concepts; what he/she discovered, argued, conceptualized. “Original” does mean “never published” (see Academic Integrity policy). In order to list the sources that you have consulted, any style is fine; just URL is fine as well. Include one or two relevant short quotes (in addition to the 150-180-word count). If you wish to experiment with designing the card layout, it’s fine and it will be apporeciated. However, please focus on writing the blurbs. You chose the formatting style, layout, etc. Don’t be worry about images copyright – we’ll deal with it in the following phase. Just pick a biopic of the pioneers/scholars you are working on. The three scholars I was assigned: Ervin Goffman, Friedrich Kittler, George H. Mead, They are from Chicago School. About Chicago School please see attachment.
