Differentiated Unit Plan

3rd grade Based on science or social studies standards, identify the ELA College and Career Standards for each lesson in your one-week unit. Use the attached “Class Profile” to differentiate instruction for the diverse needs of the reading students. Plan a one-week (five day) unit of scaffolded small-group instruction for four different levels of small groups (ELL, below level, on level, and above level). You may utilize the integrated lesson plans that you taught as a resource. Use the COE Lesson Plan Template for each day of the unit and include: Two student-centered websites to reinforce the skill. List the websites and activities. Two independent center activities to reinforce the skill; one must be a writing activity. Identify your resources. Your unit plan must show evidence of the following competencies: Demonstrate an understanding of the ways in which diversity influences the reading and writing development of students, especially those who struggle with reading and writing. Provide differentiated instruction and instructional materials, including traditional print, digital, and online resources that capitalize on diversity. Provide students with linguistic, academic, and cultural experiences that link their communities with the school. Create developmentally appropriate instruction that takes into account individual learners’ strengths, interests and needs, and that enables each learner to advance and accelerate his or her learning.
