Assessment task 1 Individual Essay This assessment will evaluate students’ ability to use their knowledge of the theories and concepts underpinning entrepreneurial mindsets and traits. Students will present their knowledge of theories associated with entrepreneurial mental models and attitudes in an essay that introduces and analyses three successful entrepreneurs in the 21st century. In addition, students need to analyse and gravely examine entrepreneurship literature where needed. Entrepreneurial Mindset Guidelines for Assessment 1 (Individual Essay) We assume that you are all familiar with essay writing, its style, structure, flow, etc. Structure: Remember the old principle: Introduction, body/elaboration, and conclusion. Expectations: This assessment will evaluate your ability to apply your knowledge of the theories and concepts underpinning entrepreneurial mindsets and traits. You need to present your knowledge of theories associated with entrepreneurial mental models and attitudes in an essay that introduces and analyses three successful entrepreneurs in the 21st century. You are expected to conduct some research and identify your three favourite entrepreneurs. You should focus on entrepreneurs who are still alive and are active. For each entrepreneur provide a brief biography and elaborate their type of contribution to society/industry/community, their role in the entrepreneur revolution, their success, and failures (if applicable), and their key challenges throughout their entrepreneurial experience. Most important is to explain your views about the strong aspects of their entrepreneurial mindsets (remember each case might have different characteristics) – explain and justify at least three key characteristics in each entrepreneur’s mindset that play important roles in their continued success and growth. As the closing of the essay explain which one of the mentioned entrepreneurs you would prefer to be your role model. Describe the commonalities between yours and that person’s entrepreneurial mindset. Also, describe how that unique mindset can help you pursue your preferred career in the market.Remember you are NOT only listing the characteristics of the mindset BUT elaborating and justifying them in the context of entrepreneurial processes is the main objective. Remember you are not supposed to provide a shopping list with lots of dot points. Remember about individual level characteristics of entrepreneurs’ mindsets.You need to relate your views to aspects of entrepreneurial mindset concept as well as practice and where possible, provide examples to illustrate and support your views. Where needed, you should cite journal articles in the entrepreneurship and innovation literature. You can also use other sources such as videos, web pages, white papers, newspapers, etc. as far as you cite them and provide the links at the end of the essay. Due date: 30 August, 11 pm. Length and/or format: 1200 words (excluding references) Purpose: Requires students to demonstrate knowledge of the theories underpinning entrepreneurial mindsets and traits. Rubric: Exceptional ability in understanding the major theories and concepts associated with entrepreneurial attitudes, traits, and behaviours Exceptional ability to discuss and appraise the characteristics found in successful entrepreneurs (in the context of the essay) Excellent and flawless ability to communicate professionally through writing. Demonstrates high standard in proofreading, referencing and ability to communicate effectively in a written format.
