Franchise Problem Analysis

For this assessment you will need to access the Senate Report (2016) ‘A National Disgrace: The Exploitation of Temporary Work Visa Holders’ (Chapter 8) which is under the Resources Tab in Learning@Griffith.

Refer to Recommendation 26 (Paragraph 8.287) made by the Senate Committee which recommends that consideration be given to a proposal to allow franchisors to terminate a franchise agreement where there are reasonable grounds for believing that a serious contravention of the Fair Work Act has occurred. This recommendation was made following exposure of underpayment of wages to casual employees by franchisees of the 7-Eleven franchise in Australia.

What are the pros and cons of this proposal from both the franchisor and franchisee perspectives?
Assignment Tips:

• You will need to provide academic references in this assignment and apply franchising theory to analyse the problem.
• Refer to instructions on Referencing in the GBS Resources Bank (via tab in Learning@Griffith). You may use either APA or AGPS Harvard referencing styles.
• Do not be tempted to use material available on the internet inappropriately as this may trigger a breach of academic integrity which may result in a severe penalty such as failing the course or exclusion from the University.
