How rising sea levels are impacting the planet and what let to this situation. It is a causal argumentative paper, relating to climate change..
This is what my professor attached, to help with this paper. I. Introduction: In one (or at the most two) paragraph(s) introduce your topic. You will write this paper in 3rd person. Remember to include a thesis statement which specifically sets out what will be proved regarding the causes of the situation. This is your claim. It should be specific, logical, and clear. (Third person point of view) (6-8 sent) 1 paragraph II. Background to current situation: This section should take as much space as needed—a few to several paragraphs. Discuss the significant and relevant history of the topic up to the current situation and how it came to be. Use research as needed to give precise and accurate statistical background for context in making causal argument. (2-3 paragraphs). III. Evaluative Claim: Once you have given a background of the current situation, evaluate the situation. Again, use research to support judgments. While this section of your paper could run anywhere from one to two paragraphs, typically one paragraph is the norm. You are basically passing judgment on the situation. This is an argument of pathos and logos. [fun piece lol] 1. paragraph IV. Cause Effect Argument(page or page and a half): This is the longest portion of your paper, the heart of your work. Once you have detailed the background to current situation and evaluated the current situation, you are ready to present the causal argument. Demonstrate a connection between the current situation and the causes for its effect or condition. Of course, you will use current significant and relevant sources to support your claims. 3-4. Paragraph V. Counterargument: There will be those who disagree with you, so you will want to acknowledge their point of view. What are their arguments about this topic? What questions do they raise for consideration? Acknowledging other points of view gives your paper credibility and shows that you have been fair in your inquiry. (You will need at least two credible sources to represent a one to two paragraph counterargument.) 1 paragraph VI. Rebuttal: Argue against the counter argument. Prepare an analysis that is logical and accurate; this is your rebuttal. 1 paragraph VII. Conclusion: Summarize meaningful conclusions clearly and precisely, remembering to re-summarize the thesis. 1 paragraph
