How values, goals, and practices of the Jewish people are showcased in this important biblical book.

Values that are important to a family, group, tribe, or nation can be reflected in their narratives. Stories are more than a recitation of facts; they provide commentary and promote a particular vision as well. After reading (1) Bible: Exod 25–34; Lev 16; 23; Numb 28—29; Isa 58:13-14; (2) Pace: Judaism, pp. 91-110; (3) Hurowitz, Victor, “The Golden Calf”; (4) Kugel: “The Golden Calf,” pp. 417-437; (5) Pearl: “And the Letters Fly Upward,” pp. 49–51; “The Great Coffin Escape,” pp. 60-63, then write an essay to show how values, goals, and practices of the Jewish people are showcased in this important biblical book. Note: (1) Regarding citations (references or quotations from Bible, Pace, Hurowizt, Kugel, and Pearl readings), note the following: For biblical references, cite the abbreviation of the name of the biblical book, chapter, and verse; put these in parentheses. E.g.: (Gen 1:1). For Pace, Hurowizt, Kugel, and Pearl readings, put the last name of the author and page number in parentheses. E.g.: (Kugel, p. 67). (2)  the writer needs to find the sources for Bible: Exod 25–34; Lev 16; 23; Numb 28—29; Isa 58:13-14.
