The assessment is based on a case study by Dr Christine Adams from the University of Tasmania. The case study will be handed to you in Week 5 and is entitled ‘Local city council: damaging dealings, power and accountability. 1. Analyse the key issues in the case study that relate to power, organisational politics and culture at the local city council. Use academic literature to support your analysis. This includes a minimum of five journal articles. (50 marks) 2. Now that the Aldermen of the local council have been dismissed, you have been brought in to rebuild the reputation of the local city council. You think the existing organisational culture and the practices that contribute to it need to be changed. Discuss how you would implement the change you believe is necessary. This should include the process you will use to gain change acceptance from key stakeholders. Is resistance to your change efforts likely and what could you do to manage it? Use academic literature to support your analysis. This includes a minimum of five journal articles. (40 marks) 3. Use APA 6th edition referencing in-text and in the reference list. (5 marks) 4. Present your work professionally, using sub-headings, page numbers and good grammar, punctuation and spelling. (5 marks).
