Media Violence and the American Public

Media Violence and the American Public.

Description You should number your responses as stated below and provide: 1. Full one page summary of the MAJOR arguments supporting the “Yes” side in your own words. Begin this section stating what the author(s) believe regarding the issue and what his/her/their strongest points are for the “yes” side. 2. Full one page summary of the MAJOR arguments supporting the “No” side in your own words. Begin this section stating what the author(s) believe regarding the issue and what his/her/their strongest points are for the “no” side. 3. Full two pages on YOUR stance on this debate issue. Begin this section by stating where you are on this debate issue and then provide your justification/reactions for this stance. This last portion can include your own reflections on the issue (e.g., experiences, reactions to reading) but should MAINLY be grounded in the arguments raised in the reading rather than simply your opinions or emotional reaction to the reading. Focus the majority of your discussion on your evaluation of the points raised in the reading. You can (i.e., it’s optional) draw upon the textbook reading in your reflections as relevant. • “In your own words” means that you should NOT use excessive (e.g., more than one or two) quotes from the readings to be able to convey concisely what a given point is from the reading. Reviewing the strongest points raised in each side and restating them in your own words is the best way to truly understand and remember them. Ideally, you shouldn’t need to use quotes. • Your paper should be a minimum of 4 pages long (no more than 5), double spaced, 12-point font. • Remember to proof read your paper as this does matter to your grade. You have 1 attempt to upload your assignment (i.e., you can’t submit multiple versions) so please proof read carefully before submitting. • Please provide your responses numbered. You do not need to have a title page for your papers. Simply provide your responses in a numbered fashion (e.g., “1. Baumiester takes the stance that self-esteem improvement programs are misguided because…”).
