Instructions: You must select TWO different academic (from peer-reviewed journals) articles that connect to the topic of Chicano Studies or history for your review. Your reviews should be a minimum of two double- spaced pages long (one article reviewed at a time). Due Dates: (files should be submitted in .pdf or .doc/.docx format, no other formats will be accepted) 10/9/19 before11:59 pm on Canvas (article should ideally focus on topics covered in chapters 3-7) 11/6/19 before 11:59 pm on Canvas (article should ideally focus on topics covered in chapters 9-13) Format Arial or Times New Roman 12 point font 1” margins In-text citations of your selected article and the Acuña textbook when needed (APA or MLA format)* Do not cite dictionaries, encyclopedias, and/or websites First Page (single-spaced) On the upper right hand side: Name Course number Date Directly below and in the center of the page: Review of (the title of your selected article) The full citation of the article that you are reviewing. Prompt A) The first paragraph/s should contain a summary of the most important information and/or the major points of the article. Be sure to provide some background context regarding the central theme/topic of this article. B) Subsequent paragraphs should focus on how this article relates to the content of the course. More specifically, does this article contradict and/or compliment the information that is already in our textbook? You may also elaborate on the significance of this article such as introducing new developments in the field, including newer research, and/or a different methodology discussed/utilized, etc. Make sure you are including a thorough comparison to the Acuña textbook. C) Concluding paragraphs should contain your own evaluation of the article. The following questions may help to guide your critique of the article: Is it well written? Is it clear? Is the information complete? Is the methodology and/or data flawed? Is more research on the topic needed?
