Organisational Change Management

Assessment Task: This assessment is asking you to identify an organisational change which you have experienced in a current or recent organisational environment where you are/were employed. Choosing ONE model of Change Management, discuss how it applied to this change (or not) and identify how it could have been applied more effectively to ensure appropriate management of the organisational change you have identified. Each recommendation you make for effective change management should be supported with appropriate psychological research evidence (3000 words). General guidance for Written Assignment: The word count excludes the referencing list at the end of the essay. Appendices are not a supplement and will not be assessed as part of the content of the assignment, therefore will not contribute to the grade awarded, however it may be appropriate to use an Appendices section for any material which is a useful reference for the reader/marker. Additional Assignment Guidelines: Note that the question is asking students to identify and describe a recent organisational change which they have experienced, and to choose an Organisational Change model to apply retrospectively to this change process. Students are also asked to make recommendations for strategies that could have been used, based on the chosen Organisational Change model AND supporting psychological research to ensure effective management of this change. As such the content of this case study should go beyond describing the change and its key issues and focus on the critical discussion applying the change management model and using supporting empirical research. The Case Study application title explicitly asks for the use of appropriate psychological theory and research and students will be expected to move beyond the more seminal work in this area and discuss relevant contemporary psychological research related to Organisational Change Management. Such research should be reported using the APA system of referencing. An appropriate, full and detailed reference section should be included at the end of the case study application. LO 1: Critically evaluate psychological theories and models as applied to organisational culture and change management. LO 2: Provide a sophisticated critical reflection on psychological interventions to develop organisational culture and promote effective management of change.
