It’s also recognized to considerably aid in promoting economic development and enduring nationwide growth (Ofori, 2015, p. 115). Construction industry has been noted to showcase deteriorating productivity and hence critiqued as an underperforming industry in Africa and some other parts of the world (Akogbe, Feng, and Zhou, 2015, p.16). Despite the technological advancements, labour expenses remains a key measure assessed at 30% to 50% of the total project’s expenditures (Robles et al., 2014, p.1061). To assist in efficient labour operations supervision, this paper focuses on investigating the detrimental factors inhibiting increased labour productivity and determine the leadership strategies that can be applied to improve the situation. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to address three inter-related subjects: • to highlight factors that hinder construction labour productivity in developing nations’ projects • to examine and to elucidate the significance of leadership and people administration in the industry, • to propose a summary of recommendations that might assist managers to overcome such concerns. Responding to the following Broad Research Question can clearly satisfy the paper’s aim: • How, in developing countries, can the labour productivity of construction activities be improved through leadership in organisations?
