For this assignment, I am asking you to do a close reading of Conf.9.7.15-16 (pages 164-166 in the Chadwick translation), and extract as much historical information as you can about the underlying event and the contemporary impact it had. Your assignment is to write about the significance of the martyr-saints in the mental world of Augustine and his contemporaries as revealed in this passage.
