The Sitcom film ‘All in the family’ has various stereotypes and deals with topics

The Sitcom film ‘All in the family’ has various stereotypes and deals with topics that were taboo at the time such as breast cancer, rape, the gay rights movement, racism, women liberation as well as divorce. Justin is depicted as being a trouble maker in the film. Robin on the other hand does not like shoes and therefore a stereotype of her own kind. Floyd, Stephanie’s father is depicted as being an alcoholic deadbeat father. Archie as well is seen as being critic and can be seen in several occasions criticizing and insulting Edith and this can be seen as a form of domestic abuse. These stereotypes are common in the media for the Caucasian culture. The Caucasian portrayal in the media has evolved in the manner that the characters are seen to portray the different stereotypes in the film and this can be seen in the various times and environments to which the characters and events get relayed. Archie can be termed as being a bigot due to his bigotry towards the diverse groups of individuals such as the blacks and gays. His bigotry is however not motivated by malice but rather a combination of the era as well as the environment in which he was raised. Archie portrays a positive image in the Caucasian culture as being a hardworking, decent and a loving father. Archie and Mike had a strong father and son relationship. Archie was fonder of Lionel Jefferson and therefore they can be termed as to have a very close relationship and the reason could be that Lionel Jefferson was polite to Archie and humored him making their bond stronger. Through highlighting various stereotypes in the film, ‘All in the family’ could be termed as to have a positive impact to the overall American Culture through is diverse opinions and characterization of the American culture that is depicted in the film.

In the ‘Sex and city’ there are various stereotypes that can be seen and some of them include racial stereotypes than are represented by Samantha John and Charlotte York who refused to eat from the five-star resort simply because it was Mexican. Partisan stereotypes are also represented by Charlotte York as she is a Republican. Carrie Bradshaw is a white feminist implying that she is a racist and as well believe in the empowerment of women. Miranda Hobbes represents the stereotypes of lesbians. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte are all white women who believe that one has to be thin and white and beautiful to be successful, besides, the four women represents extremes and a majority of the women tend to relate in the different elements in all the four women. I don’t think that their lifestyles is realistic as it is more extreme and there is no such representation of a lifestyle in the Caucasian American women. Although to some extent, some of the women in America may tend to imitate such an extreme lifestyle, it is always difficult to maintain and only one or two aspects can be maintained. The choice of love interests in the film is based on race whereby the four women tend to fall in love with the whites. Despite the comments by Samantha that she does see color, she however refers to her partner as ‘big black cock’, an indication that she is also a racist. Besides, the choice is based on the size of the cock as Samantha dumps a man she loved simply because he had a small cock. Again, most of the women from the series are lesbians and not attracted by men. The sitcom ‘Sex and the City’ has an overall negative impact on the American Culture in the media due to the fact that they portray vices such as moral decay and racism. However, there is a positive impact that can be deduced from the feminine aspect of Carrie Bradshaw that involves the empowerment of women.

There are stereotypes in the series ‘The Nanny’ and a most of them are associated with the Jewish mannerism that result from ethnicity. The Nanny portrays ethnic stereotypes that are evident in her desire to seduce a doctor whom she wants to marry. Class is another stereotype that is associated with the Nanny and to which the characters seem to be separated by their classes. Charlotte reactions of Harry’s idiosycrancies were mild as she was fighting for her relationship to survive. Charlotte and harry were in a romantic relationship and were very fond of one another despite the many challenges they passed through in their relationship. In my opinion, I think that Charlotte would still have considered the conversion to Judaism had she not seen that Elizabeth Taylor had converted and this is for the reason that she was going to be married to Harry, and women getting married to the tribe had to be converted to Judaism for acceptance into the society. Through the series, I don’t think that the Jewish culture in the media has evolved and this can be attributed to the presence of the stereotypes from the Jewish ethnicity as well as their class that tend to make them conservative of their culture hence no improvements in evolution. Ms. Fran Fine is portrayed as an outgoing and humorous person, I think that her character has been exaggerated in the sense that she experiences breakups but continues to engage in new relationships through her door to door sales. The aspect of being humorous and getting into a relationship on the streets is kind of an exaggeration. Ms. Fine and Mr. Sheffield are in a professional relationship to which Mr. Sheffield hires Ms. Fine to look after her children but they have a mutual attraction on one another. Through this sitcom, I don’t think the Jewish culture has evolved as the same stereotypes related to the Jewish culture are still depicted in Ms. Fine relationship with Mr. Sheffield as she seduces him to get affection though the relationship is kept professional.

In the film ‘Her shoes’ Maggie and Rose has a weak relationship as they don’t trust one another as roes is over protective, despite the fact that they are both sisters. Rose and Simon are in a close and mutual relationship and to which has compelled Rose to quit her job so that she gets near to Simon whom she had previously ignored. It is possible to tell that Rose and Maggie were of the Jewish descent due to the characters towards men. The Jewish women are known to seduce men to get their attention and this can be seen from the characters depicted from Maggie. There is a similarity between this film and the other Jewish films in that they all try to relate the lack of manners for women in their bid to seduce men close to them. However the film differs in that the film is an enticing drama and to which revolves about two sisters whose relationship is in a mess and they have to work hard towards its improvement. Throughout the film, I don’t think that the Jewish culture has evolved as it is a fact that the Jewish mannerism still exist and contributes to the stereotypes in the film especially for class.

The film ‘Schindler’s list’ is dominated by stereotypes. Oskar is a protagonist and an opportunist, Stern is a malicious individual and Amon represents the pure evil Nazi as he is depicted as being malicious, cold and prone to anger. Oscar Schidler is an opportunist business man who is portrayed in the film as being protagonist. Despite being an opportunist, he saves a thousand Jews from death during the Holocaust and therefore he is a good person. My opinion regarding the Holocaust is that it calls for the Jews to find a means for survival through fighting for themselves but not waiting for the supernatural being to help them as it is their religious beliefs. Throughout the film, I don’t think that the Jewish culture in the media has evolved in that, the society still portrays the Jewish mannerism and conservatory nature of clinging to religion without even thinking past their holding culture.
