Social Media Game Plan
To: Director of the Athletic Department,
As the sports information director at the College of William and Manny, I would like to develop and propose a social media game plan for the school. It is unfortunate that the athletic program is largely overlooked by national news media and there is need to incept marketing programs to publicize the activities of the school.
A social media game plan is a vital tool for ensuring effectiveness in the administration of sports and other co-curricular activities in any institution. Therefore, most institutions that endeavor to be successful in the process of managing sports activities find it necessary to invest in a formidable social media game plan. The benefits of a social media plan in governing activities related to sporting is immense owing to the fact that it guarantees organized operation of sporting activities.
This memo will outline my perspectives regarding a broad social media plan for the athletic department – coaches, administrators, staff and student-athletes. In essence, social media refers to twitter, Facebook, potentially connected to mass Media like ESPN. The most important parameter is how to make use social media to reach a lot of people without using a lot of money. We must ensure that we are protecting ourselves from the downside of social media as well. Social media just like other Internet sources is vulnerable to cyber attacks and other forms of insecurity. An effective social media plan ought to be immune to unnecessary expenses along with cyber crime and security vulnerabilities. In developing a comprehensive social media game plan it is necessary to look for real life positive and negative examples drawn from research. In order to help us formulate the most effective plan, I have incorporated some of these examples in this memo.
Objectives
The goals of the schools social media game plan are multifaceted and varied in the sense that they reflect the wider perspectives of sports administration and publicity. The appropriate goals of the school’s social media game plan will incorporate the specific objectives of social media as a marketing platform. The goals comprise of;
Developing a reliable platform for communication of the schools sports programs
Establish social and community rapport for purposes of participation.
Connect with other schools and institutions in the organization of sports activities
Publicize the schools sports activities to guarantee wider involvement
Make it necessary to obtain feedback from other participants and parties regarding the schools sports programs.
Measuring the success of William and Manny comprehensive social media game plan is an important dynamic in the sense that there must be criteria of determining the success of the publicity program. Therefore, in developing the social media game plan avenues must be established for the measurement of its success so as to establish how effective it is in meeting the requirements of the school’s sports agenda.
In order to successfully measure the performance of the social media game plan, the program will incorporate parameters that will be used is determining its success rate. For instance measurable variables will be developed against which the level of effectiveness will be gauged. As a result, it will be possible to understand whether the program is making progress or not
