What experience has you had with musical theatre or opera? Have you attended a cantata or other musical presentation at your church, synagogue, temple or mosque? Have you seen a Broadway show? Have you viewed a fully mounted opera? Describe what you saw and heard. Did you enjoy the experience? In addition to the quality of the artwork itself and the totality of the performance (sets, costumes, lighting, etc.) what were some of the extra-artistic considerations which may have influenced your theatrical foray? Was the program easy to read and did it provide useful information? Were the public facilities clean and in good repair? Were the seats in the auditorium comfortable? Was there access to a snack bar or a regular bar? Was the parking convenient and did the neighborhood feel safe…etc.? Since our senses may be heightened in anticipation of the theatrical event, these other stimuli may also have a considerable impact on our perception of the theatre.
