The Egyptian video I thought was really insightful and interesting. It is interesting that they believed that if their deceased bodies were still around, that they were still around. I guess in other words, their spirits lived on. They were very big on trying to preserve their bodies and thought that if they were to wrap a body up carefully, that it would preserve it. After realizing that it was not working, they kept trying different things until they figured out artificial mummification. This was how they believed that a person would cross over to the other side. There were three different parts that they would split into, the physical body, the persons spiritual double, and then the deceased personality or the BA (a human headed bird).This was how they were able to live on forever. They believed that if your body was not preserved, that you could not resurrect or cross over to the other side. Basically you did not exist and did not make it to the next world. The pyramids were built for a safe place for pharaoh and was just as important as the mummy. The pyramids and tombs were very symbolic to the ancients and were built to last for eternity. The pyramids themselves were not built for the ancient Egyptian religion but was built for the ancient Egyptian ruler.
