ABC Documentary “A Betrayal of Trust”.
You are asked to watch a documentary. The documentary presents issues regarding financial services. This documentary is partly responsible for prompting the Royal Commission to make enquiries into financial services industry.
After watching the documentary, you are asked to identify issues presented in the documentary, and map these issues against the standards of ethical behaviour contained in the last four pages of the Code of Ethics for Financial Advisers Exposure Draft of Proposed Standard issued by the FASEA. There are 12 standards of ethical behaviour and a general mapping relating to each standard to a particular conduct can be found in the last two pages of the Code of Ethics for Financial Advisers issued by FASEA. The 12 standards of ethical behaviour are reproduced at the end of the assignment instructions.
In mapping issues you have identified in the documentary, you need to supply reasons why an issue is mapped against a standard of ethical behaviour and how the code will resolve an issue(s). Remember there is no one correct answer to this assignment, but many different mappings and expected resolutions to address issues better or worse. You are free to express your opinions and your own code of ethics or response to issues. However, these must be supported by some external materials such as relevant regulations, academic literatures, and some other sources such as recent news articles to authenticate your argument. The outcome of your writing will depend on these qualities.
