USING THE FOLLOWING TEXT BOOKS DO THE FOLLOWING Szalavitz, M. (2016). Unbroken Brain: A Revolutionary New Way of Understanding Addiction. New York: St. Martin’s Press. Urschel, H. C. (2009). Healing the Addicted Brain: The Revolutionary, Science-Based Alcoholism and Addiction Recovery Program. Illinois: Sourcebooks, Inc. For this Reading Reflection, read Chap. 3 from Healing the Addicted Brain & the Introduction-Chap. 2 (pg. 1-31) from Unbroken Brain. Requirements for Reading Reflections: • Students are expected to prepare a list of five (5) questions that focus on the readings assigned for that day. • When there are multiple readings assigned, at least one question must address each reading. • The questions can be asked to help clarify an issue as discussed in the reading or explore how an issue may function in practice. • The questions should clearly refer to an aspect of the reading—e.g. “The author stated XXX in Chapter 2 which makes me wonder YYY.” • Grading will largely be based on completion. • Therefore, most complete sets of daily questions will receive full credit. Questions that are particularly superficial (e.g. the definition of a word) will receive reduced or no credit.
