Housing Mental ill inmates in confinement while incarcerated..
This is a Master’s Thesis project that is intended to either change a certain policy that is already incorporated or create a new policy. It has to be related to my career which is Corrections with the Federal Prison and it must be dealing with an issue of a current policy. So, the topic that you will chose is housing mentally ill inmates in confinement while in prison. This is a issue with a current policy concerning mentally ill inmates being treated like the general population inmates. The goal in this project that you will try to reach is implementing a policy that allows mentally ill inmates to have their own confinement housing by the psychology department so that can continue to take their medications, therapy groups, etc. Housing this inmates for an extended amount of time can make their illness worse as well. While they are in confinement, the psychologists are not allowed to give them certain medications and they do not have access to their proper treatments. Mention how to properly treat these inmates so that they can improve their social skills as well as stay out of prison once released so that it will help the recidivism rate.
