For example, you might write about: how settlers changed the frontier with fields, shelter belts, railroads, towns; the debate about changing rivers’ natural courses; endangering species; or deforestation. You might also write about how the environment shapes us. For example: the land often determines our livelihoods, whether we become farmers, ranchers, loggers, or fishers; some studies reveal how our physical characteristics are determined by our environments; or, we learn to live with other dangerous creatures, such as: rattlesnakes, mountain lions, or alligators. Choose one relationship or example of influence, to research and discuss in your essay. We are all influenced by our environment, and we all influence our environment. Please use this assignment as an opportunity to explore this relationship, a connection that we may seldom really consider. For this essay, you will conduct and incorporate research into your work.
