Disability in the Media.
This paper provides a critical analysis of a current media article or story related to disability. Please be sure to include a link or fully scanned copy of the piece you are discussing. The summary should be no more than 200 words as the bulk of the paper should focus on the critical analysis of the article or story. The purpose of this assignment it to review a current disability relevant media article from an established source to provide a brief summary, a critical analysis and a discussion on how the piece shapes or does not shape both mainstream and disability culture. The introduction should provide a brief summary to demonstrate your clear understanding of the content and basic arguments of the author. The critical analysis should include references of any content that was new, interesting or challenging to your previous understanding of disability. The analysis should also present an argument of the content through a critical lens, discussing any information, other sources, articles or experiences that may support or deny the information presented by the author. Be sure to include why you feel this article is relevant to disability studies and whether you agree or disagree, and why or why not, with the authors opinion expressed in the content of the article. Your conclusion should identify and discuss how the article contributes to the social model and understanding of disability. Be sure to include a link of the article you are analysing so it can easily be found.
