1. Undertake a macro environmental analysis of the New York food service industry. From this analysis, identify the Key Drivers of Change (20 marks) You are required to: a. Using the information given in the case and external research conduct a PESTEL analysis identifying the main factors in the macro environment at the time of writing of the case. Mark each factor either as an opportunity (+) or a threat (-). The PESTEL should not be an exhaustive list of all changes in the environment but should identify the main factors and explain them. (10 marks) b. From your PESTEL analysis above, identify and justify three Key Drivers facing the industry at the time of the writing of the case. Assess the degree to which each one might impact upon the players in the industry. (10 Marks) 2. Undertake a structural analysis to analyse the fast casual sector of the New York food service industry. (50 marks) You are required to: a) Undertake a five forces investigation. b) Conclude on the attractiveness of the sector. 3. Identify and appraise Semsom’s strategic capabilities. (30 marks) Use of Strategic Capability Framework to identify the unique resources and core competences. (10) Use VRIO framework to evaluate and conclude on the sustainability of the strategic capabilities. (20) Marking Scheme Using the case study (not included here) along with class notes, the course text book and independent research please address the case study questions.
