Services marketing: physical evidence.
The coursework is an essay that critically analyses one argument found in the literature on a topic that is relevant to the development and/or operation of resorts or spas. To start with, select a topic that appeals to you based the Moodle page i.e. resort definition and classifications, resort ownership and operation, services marketing: people, physical evidence or process, resort strategic management, resort sustainability, the world of spa. Starting with the material on the Moodle page, research the topic and in the literature find an argument (two clearly contrasting perspectives). Analyse, assess, compare and contrast the different perspectives then give your opinion and justify it. Please take into consideration the theories, models, and concepts we discussed in class e.g. Brey (….) definition of a resort. Then justify your opinion e.g. by contextualising the discussion into your country of origin or in a resort you have experience as a guest of employee. Structure An essay does not need a Table of Contents, because it should normally be a piece of continuous, flowing, paragraphed text, uninterrupted by headings. This essay consists of: Page 4 • Title page: Include the programme name, module name and code, essay topic (argument), student name and UoD number, lecturer name, and submission date.
• Acknowledgements: If appropriate, provide a page acknowledging those who helped you complete the assessment.
• Introduction: Gives some background information on the topic, state the argument you found in the literature, and ‘signposts’ what the essay is going to cover. • Body: The main section of the essay should be divided into paragraphs that each deal with a different aspect of the issue. The paragraphs in the body of an essay should be linked. Use the last sentence of one paragraph and the first sentence of the next paragraph to link them. Ideas should ‘flow’ logically from one paragraph into another. • Conclusion: Summarises the main points and conclude on a high-level thought e.g. cite someone famous. • References: Provide a list of all the sources you have used. • Appendix: No appendix. Formatting guidelines • Use an Arial or similar font, 12 point-size, and 1.5 line spacing • Spell and grammar check your text
