What are the construction patterns of NP functioned as subject, object, complement and adjunct? 2. To what extend of the students’ competences in NP constructions based on the Functions in sentences? NP has three parts: Pre-modifiers, Head, Post-Modifiers (Jackson) Number of Respondents: 40 students (the six semester students majoring in English-in Indonesia) Instrument: Writing Test: the students were asked to write 20 English sentences of their own word. In identifying the data below, the sentences produced by the students were selected in accordance with their correct usage, unambiguity, and appropriate context, and the use of NP as subject, object, complement and adjunct.
