War On Drugs/ Drug policies and drug issues in society.

For this week, you are required to complete a term paper on the War on Drugs. Your project topic should be on public policy or an academic issue of your interest. The project must state why the topic selected is important to you. You will be required to write a short integrative bibliographical paper of no more than seven (7) pages for this course.

This short paper will consist of five journal articles or working papers regarding issues in: Drug Policies; Economic Analysis; Economic Historical Analysis; Medical History; Scientific Analysis; International Diplomacy; and/or Social and Philosophical Analysis. The bibliographical selection may address topics from the examples listed below: A critique of the drug policy in the United States (shortcomings, reduction of supply of drugs,treatment options, etc); Legitimate historical use of drugs: opium and cocaine; Comparative international policies; Historical analysis of policies in different countries; Socio-Economic analysis of drug policies; International Drug Cartels and their Activities / Violence and Corruption; European colonialism and the drug trade in history; and Foreign Trade As stated clearly, the Term Project must be an annotated bibliography. In annotated bibliography, you identify several documents to review, which may include books, monographs, articles and even news publications.
