Learning Goal, Communication Skill, and 10 Lesson Objective.

Assignments and Activities 1. On the lesson plans least semester, I noticed that plenty of people still were not writing observable and measurable objectives. This skill is most important when edTPA rolls around next semester so it will be the first thing I look for in the TWS lesson plans. So, to give you a reminder of the process, I have re-provided the screen cast and PowerPoint on making observable and measurable objectives. 2. Look at the feedback I provided for your UBD template and make the necessary corrections. This will be the basis for the lesson plans. When done, turn them in to the drop box. 3. Next I want a document that gives your overall learning goal for your focus learner, the communication skill you will be working on, and the 10 lesson objectives. a. The learning goal needs to be observable and measurable and should be related to an evaluation of a task that assesses the key concepts of the unit. Many times, the last day objective serves as the learning goal. b. The communication skill related to the learning goal and needs to be a skill that the focus learner will need to use in order to participate in the learning tasks and/or demonstrate learning. Examples of communication skills include: retelling a story, inferring the meaning of a story, explaining a strategy, comparing two different stories, types of animals, plants, cities, forms of government etc. Look at your academic language module to help. c. Write the 10 objectives for the 10 lesson plans. The unit should have an overall scaffolding where the materials get harder or more advanced each day or supports are faded. Attached is the UBD lesson plan submitted that I will be using to teach from. This is what will need to be used to plan from. Objectives should be written around these concepts. Also attached are examples of well written objectives. Also attached are the focus learners in the class I will be teaching this unit for. Names have been disguised, but these are actual students these objectives will be written for.
