You decided to write the article as a review of the high school production, but you are unsure of the structure and elements that make up a quality critical review of a movie. You decide to research the Internet, school library, and other media to find various sources and samples of film reviews and scholarly critiques before you start the project. Write a 2-3 page paper on what you found about writing a quality film review and scholarly critique. Your paper should address the following: Define what is meant by popular review and a scholarly critique of a film. Identify how they are different and/or similar. Provide a sample of a popular review and a scholarly critique in the Appendix of the report. Discuss the analyses of the film components. Explain how the analyses of film components (e.g., photography, mise en scene, story, editing, sound, acting, etc.) are treated in a popular review and a scholarly critique. Identify the features of the critique/review that need to be considered. Identify the things you need to consider in writing your critique/review for the school newspaper. Explain the difference between writing for a critique/review for a national publication and a local publication. Discuss how writing a critique/review for a national magazine or newspaper would be different and discuss what you might add or change in writing such a review. Your assignment must: Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format.
