The Future This next assignment is about identifying the ways that Futurism gets “done”: how a work of art functions to do those things that Futurist art can do! Find a contemporary work of art (in any medium) that you would like to analyze in terms of your definition of Futurism. Write a 3-4 page discussion of that work of art, using Futurism as a framework. Be sure to: – Ground your definition of Futurism with quotes from sources in the dropbox (or elsewhere) – Discuss the details of the artistic work. What does it look like? Sound like? Feel like? Try to evoke the experience of the artwork for the reader. – Find out about the work by reading artist statements, critiques, etc. (but also arrive at your own interpretations). – Make critical or evaluative claims about the strengths and limitations of the work. ***Tthe paper to be written on artists Wangechi Mutu or Saya Woolfalk.
