The Alfonso case (centers on participatory budgeting)..

The Alfonso case you’ll be analyzing this week centers on participatory budgeting. The case begins on page 22 of the article. As you read through the case, think about the following questions: What are the implications of citizen participation in the budgeting process? How do the relationships of interested parties impact the process? The purpose of the analysis is to encourage you to think about what you have read and how that material applies to you. Avoid paraphrasing or outlining the readings. Instead, summarize the primary issues you gleaned from the assigned readings and apply that to your experiences, knowledge, and judgments of public administration. The purpose of the analysis is to help you connect what you’re learning in the course to real-world practice. In the analysis, briefly describe what you consider to be the two or three major (primary) and integrative points or issues contained in the readings. Explain how these points or issues integrate with the materials covered in the course thus far and explain their relevance to you. Then, briefly describe the questions/challenges you have regarding the readings and explain why they are important questions/challenges. Additionally, explain why the case is noteworthy, how it pertains to the assigned readings (i.e. complements, contradicts, extends the readings), and what the implications are for you. Below you will find a checklist of required elements for the assignment: Briefly describe what you consider to be the two or three major (primary) and integrative points of issues contained in the reading.
