Description Less than 50 years ago, in the South, it was illegal for two people of different races to get married. Now, this is one of the largest growing sections of our population. In terms of marriage, this can be a determining factor for an acceptable partner. -What changes have occurred in our society that makes it more likely that an interracial marriage will be accepted by the members of a family? Back up your opinion with scholarly sources. -Why are rates of interracial marriage lower for blacks than non-black racial-ethnic groups such as Hispanics? -Black and brown families socialize children differently to prepare them for potential prejudice and discrimination as they grow up (Wise, 2016). What are the implications for socializing mixed-race children in our current society? What adjustments to the socialization process will have to occur to ensure that mixed-race children are prepared for society?
