Deontology.
Write an essay that: (1) You may consult your textbooks and your notes. But those are the ONLY resources you may use. Do NOT do outside research. This is partly because I want you to develop your own voice, and partly because most of the material you’ll find on the Internet is quite bad. By taking inspiration from it, you will probably do worse. (a) States the ‘iff’ statement for deontology; (b) Explains the difference between deontological reasoning and consequentialist reasoning—i.e., the difference between focusing on the intrinsic moral nature of an action and focusing on its likely consequences; (c) Explains Margaret Little’s argument that it is immoral to outlaw abortion; and (d) Explains why Little’s argument is deontological rather than consequentialist.
