Historic preservation.
Read the introduction and select a case study chapter in the following book, on reserve in the Architecture Library for PRES 501: Bluestone, Daniel M. Buildings, Landscapes, and Memory : Case Studies in Historic Preservation. 1st ed. New York: W.W. Norton, 2011. Write a 500+-word reflection on your readings briefly summarizing the key issues and facts of your case study and your reflections on the issues related to preservation in the service of memory the case raises. You may wish to consider addressing the following issues in addition to your own thoughts: What does the case study tell us about historic preservation as a process—not only a process of buildings undergoing change, but of interpretations and meanings changing as well? How sites are the sites chosen for preservation, their treatment, and their stories immersed in or manipulated by the politics of a particular time and place?
