Communication – Movie Analysis.
You will analyze a movie to determine patterns of family behavior. I have provided a list of movies for you to choose from. In the beginning of your paper, share a brief overview of the movie’s plot, not more than two paragraphs. Then analyze your movie through the LENS of family communication. Please cite throughout your paper anything you did not know before taking this class. Length: 5 pages Details: Double space, APA citation (APA overview and guide) of movie and textbook only, no other sources are required Textbook is Family Communication and Change (10th edition) Your analysis should include all of the following: 1. After or as part of your *brief* description of the movie’s plot, describe the family your movie focuses on using language from your text to describe the relationships and family type/structure. (See Chapter 1 to review these concepts) 2. Analyze the family as an interdependent system, using at least two concepts from your text. (See Chapter 3, pages 61-68 to review these concepts) 3. Analyze the degree of adaptability and cohesion in the family system. (See Chapter 2 to review these concepts) 4. Analyze of the meanings and rules in the family, using concepts from your text. (See Chapter 4 to review these concepts) 5. Finally, analyze any the conflict that appears in the family as productive or destructive ways that the family manages conflictual situations, using concepts in your text. (See Chapter 9 to review these concepts) Your analysis also should include two of the three following concepts to apply: 1. Intimacy and self-disclosure (Chapter 6) 2. Family roles and communication (Chapter 7) 3. Power and decision-making (Chapter 8) Use examples from the work to illustrate your concepts. Description of these examples should be clear and concise for the reader (me), but should NOT be the bulk of the paper. Share the example, but spend most of your time exploring it.
