Introductory Questions: • What is the name of the program? • Why did you choose this program? • Is the program a “stand alone” program or organization, or is it a specialized part of a larger program? Program goals and mission: • What is the mission of the program? • What are the program’s goals, especially as they relate to healing from trauma? • What change(s) does the program seek to create at the micro, mezzo, and/or macro level(s)? Who the program works with: • Who does the program reach, treat, serve, or work with? • What languages do staff speak, and in what language(s) are program materials available? • Does the program focus on working with a specific age range of people? If so, what age range? • Does the program provide any culturally specific services (e.g. services based on culture, language, ability, or identity)? • How are the services or approaches unique to the communities served (e.g., culturally specific support groups, culturally-specific healing practices)? • In what kind of setting do the program’s services take place? Program origins: • What and who brought about the creation of the program? • When and why was it started? • Was the program developed from an existing model, or start from scratch? o If the program was adapted from an existing model, in what ways was it modified? o If the program was developed from scratch, what processes were used to create it? • Is the program (or aspects of it) manualized, or does it have written guidelines or steps for implementation? Program components: • What are the major components of the program? • What are the program’s key services? • Does the program conduct universal trauma screening? Which instruments, if any, are used? • What types of trauma does the program treat? • What is the theoretical or philosophical basis of the treatment? • What outcomes is the treatment designed to achieve, and how are these defined and measured? • What research or evidence supports the success of the treatment? • What is involved: individual/group; how many sessions; what are the key elements; what are the unique components? • How is the treatment delivered, and by whom? • What type of training and supervision are necessary to deliver the treatment? Program evidence: • Does the program collect information on outcomes? Has the program conducted any type of formal evaluation? o If so, how and when was this information collected? o What kinds of information were collected? • How much evidence is there to support this program and/or the treatment it provides? Is it mostly anecdotal or studies? How many articles, reports, studies, pilots, etc.?
