Objectives: • To connotate what the “American Dream” is. • To argue if the “American Dream” is a real/false ideology and identify outcomes of this belief. • To utilize 2 secondary resources to substantiate your argument without the articles dominating your voice. • To incorporate pathos, logos, ethos in your argument to better appeal to your readers. • To identify which audience you will be writing for. • To incorporate the use of in-text citations in student essays. Students will compose a 2-3 page, double spaced, argumentative essay indicating their position on the accessibility of the “American Dream”. Students will use 2 scholarly resources on Morgan’s library database to substantiate their claim and indicate the usage of these sources via in-text citations. Students may use 1 of the articles covered in class to incorporate into their arguments. Students are to not rely heavily on these articles to be their voice, students must have a voice of their own! Paper Format: • 2-3 pages, double spaced. • Times New Roman font. • Size 12 font. • Page Numbers (with last name) attached in the top right hand corner. • Works cited page does not attribute to the overall page count for the project. • Works cited page must also be double spaced with hanging indentions.
