Trade Wars.

Final Paper: Long Abstract Of the most pressing issues since the election of Donald Trump as President has been that of trade deals. One of Trump’s biggest campaign promises was that he was going to make trade “fair” for the United States, especially amongst China. So, a trade war with China has ensued, as billions in tariffs have been placed on products, with no end in sight. This issue has the utmost relevancy to this class, as we have covered trade wars and the effects they have on diplomatic relations between the two states. People should undoubtedly care about the trade war going on with China, as we are the two dominant powers geopolitically, and such a trade war could potentially lead to actual violence if relations sour to such an extent. Data regarding the economic impact this trade war has had on both country’s economies will be essential in researching for this paper. Overall, the objective of this research paper is to explore the overall impact of the current trade war, from an international relations perspective, as well as the shift of globalization this trade war aims at causing. The main argument of this paper is that China’s power has reached a critical point, and that something needed to be done in order to contain their monopoly on trade, as well as circumvent their increased international aggression in acquiring strategically important ports. For this paper, I will be reading many articles on international relations, as well as world regional geography, as the different trade ports China is acquiring will have utmost relevance to this paper.
