SECTION I – Personality and Self-Concept

Discuss your personality strengths and areas of improvement to consider. Use your Milestone Two: SWOT Analysis assignment from Module Four to assist you with this section. Make sure you are considering the feedback you received from your instructor and any additional feedback from your peers, and be sure to clean up any written errors in the submission.

Grubbs et al. (2016) define personality as the collection of all attributes that define one’s behavior, emotional and mental status. These attributes contribute to a person’s psychological characteristics. Self-concept, on the other hand, is the ability to understand oneself by understanding their personality. As a leader, it is important to understand one’s personality so as to know how to relate to other people. Leaders who have a proper understanding of their personalities and those of others are able to relate to people well. They know the exact ways to get tasks done by a given audience (Grubbs et al. 2016). Also, it gives the leaders better self-perception as they are able to control their emotions and avoid causing problems.

SECTION II – Human Interaction Skills

Discuss management skills involved in the engagement and motivation of personnel, and consider the intended impacts on workplace productivity. Reflect back to assignments and resources you reviewed throughout the course to assist you with this section. Make sure you are considering the feedback you received from your instructor and any additional feedback from your peers, and clean up any written errors in the submission.

Once you understand people’s personalities and gain a better self-perspective, you need to learn how to interact with others properly. Examples of skills that may be used to promote human interaction include patience and active listening (Warren et al. 2013). Patience refers to the ability to tolerate another person’s ideas and respond rationally. Active listening refers to the ability to keenly listen to one’s ideas, conceptualize and respond accordingly. These two skills assist a leader to properly engage with employees (Warren et al. 2013). The leaders are able to understand the needs of their employees better and respond accordingly. The sole aim of proper interaction is to promote proper communication and ensure that the work environment is safe enough for creativity.

SECTION III – Personal Development Plan

For this final section, consider all of the coursework and feedback you received that allowed you to craft sections I and II above. Focus on your personality, self-concept, and human interaction skills you have mentioned to help you form your personal leadership philosophy.

As a leader, it is important to note that we need to work on ourselves before we can ensure the success of an organization. Remember, you cannot communicate, or even relate properly to people if you do not have a proper self-conceptualization. Lejeune, Beausaert, & Raemdonck (2018) argue that once we understand our personality, we will be able to understand other people without ruffling feathers. The objective of this program is to understand ourselves, thus know how to understand others. This will help make the workplace a safe place and promote creativity as well.
