Task:
Explores how innovative technologies have the capacity to influence and shape the business environment. It investigates particular emerging technologies and real-world cases to improve student understanding of the impact and the role that technologies can play in society, and how this is moulded by individuals’ interactions and perspectives with and through technology. Students will explore different aspects of theory and concepts to learn how they can be applied in different situations to understand the impacts of technology on enterprises.

This unit will assist students to develop the following graduate attributes (shown below as they relate to this unit’s learning outcomes):
1. identify and analyse key technologies that have emerged and shaped the business world.
2. evaluate the impact of disruptive innovation in order to plan, develop and implement strategies for competitive advantage
3. propose and predict, by applying theory, the impacts that emerging technologies will have on different industries, and understand and define how best to respond to the challenges and opportunities that disruption offers
4. discuss the legal, social, ethical, cultural, human, and security implications of key emerging technologies within enterprises
5. discuss trends, developments and critical issues of emerging technologies
