Assessment task 2: Research Report: Comparison of Two Film Festivals. Details of task: In your second assessment you are required to produce a research report comparing two film festivals. By engaging with this task you will learn how to evaluate the aims and modus operandi of selected case studies of local and international film festivals. You should select two film festivals and research them using online and print resources. Your comparison of two film festivals should: 1. Demonstrate familiarity with a variety of critical and theoretical perspectives in film festival studies 2. Make detailed analysis of two film festivals informed by these critical and theoretical perspectives 3. Discuss several grounds of comparison Grounds for comparison: theme location business model history ‘the look of the festival’ target audience You will develop your discussion of some selected grounds of your comparison by describing and interpreting the attributes of that ground. Your discussion should be informed by theoretical concepts introduced in this course and draw on a number of scholarly sources relevant to the festivals you selected. You should weave together your analytical/theoretical points and close analysis of the festivals.
