1. After studying Chapter 1, do the exercise “Be the Manager” on page 33. 2. As you know, there are relevant “2019 top Trends in Management”. There is a trend related to “Analytics”, and it is a good time to check whether your company is a “potential candidate” for developing an “Analytics Culture.” Follow the instructions below: 1. Review the material posted in Course Document Link under “Analytics” item. 2. Open the Analytics Survey posted in the Analytics item (Course document link), assess your company through the analytics components, and then analyze the results. 3. List the weaknesses and strengths found in your company given by the analytics components covered by the survey. 4. Select one weakness that impedes to embrace the “Analytics” by your company and prepare an implementation plan to eliminate that weakness and then move on analytic philosophy. In order to be consistent with the implementation plan content, there are some examples of this kind of plan in the Course Document Link under the Implementation plan item. Read them and pick the one that satisfies you the most, and then prepare the exercise based on that one. 3. After studying chapter 9, do the exercise “Building Management Skills” on page 309. Look at Figure 9.2. Based on the outcomes of this exercise, identify one weakness (or problem) after applying the Value Chain analysis, and prepare an implementation plan to solve the problem. This exercise is an oral assignment. Oral component is a professional presentation by using PowerPoint based on the material recommended by the instructor (see Course document link). It is recommended one slide per question/answer, and 10 minutes length. Be creative and use the resources you consider to enhance your presentation. Week 2 1.1. From the Value Chain analysis exercise done in week 1 assignment: (1) select a customer want (from the ones you identified in the value chain exercise) then mention the value chain function(s) you consider directly relates to the satisfaction of that customer want (in order words, the critical function(s) that will impact the most on the customer want), (2) evaluate how that function(s) is currently affecting the satisfaction of the customer want. Is the function working properly toward customer satisfaction? (3) finally, identify which one(s) of the improvement actions suggested by you (if any) is intended to improve the value chain function to satisfy that customer want. If there is no improvement action (from the ones mentioned by you) to satisfy the customer want then, Is there something to be modified in the function in order to improve customer satisfaction? What to do? 2. This is a data analysis exercise. Read the attached case study. After analyzing the attached excel dataset (case survey), answer the questions 5 to 9. The number 99 in the dataset means 0 (no responses). Apply your knowledge about excel. Answer each question supported by the excel outcomes obtained from handling the data and using any excel statistical method. The answers without being supported by excel outcome will not be considered for grading. Prepare a short powerpoint presentation (1 slide per question, max 5 slides) summarizing your results. Each slide should show the response and the method used to get the responses. Expected Outcome: Submit the written assignment based on exercises above in one word document. It must be 100% original. The excel results supporting your responses must be submitted in only one excel file (one per student) via course message link as an attached file.
