You are required to read relevant literature and theory in order to select a research topic.
The first paragraph of your bibliography should explicitly state your initial project idea and research question. This should be approximately 100 words long.
You are required to select from your reading 5 empirical papers, which you think are most important for the development of your project idea.
Start with a brief summary of the proposed research (i.e. what you propose to conduct for your dissertation). Include the rationale, methodology/methods, hypotheses (if appropriate) and what the proposed intends to add to knowledge/practice. Then:
For each source you need to do the following:
1. Report the citation using the CU Harvard style guide (this can be accessed via CUOnline). You may
wish to present this in bold or bold italics as a heading for each of the papers you cite within your
paper.
2. Report succinctly on the following: aims/purpose of the research, methods, key findings and overall
relevance to the proposed research. In each case, ensure that you make what you report relevant to the research that you have proposed.
In each case, your focus should be to explain how each source is important for your proposed study/area of interest and how reading it has influenced the development of your project idea. Ensure that you write in the third person (i.e. not using �I� have selected this paper because it has informed �my� research). Write in the third person as is typically required for a quantitative research report (there are exceptions for qualitative).
If for any reason you cite another article within your annotation, simply add the reference at the end of your paper. You don�t need to include a reference list of the papers you annotate because you will have provide the full text within your paper.
As you have a maximum 1500 words for the entire assessment, you should be considering a word count of approximately 280 for each source
